Well hello, gorgeous… I’m Kate, the creator and editor of this here webblog.  I write and edit Geek Girl on the Street (dedicated to everything pop-culture and geeky) and am a freelance writer who contributes to a bunch of other publications, too.

I’m actually working on finishing my first book – titled, Chef – about… guess!

That’s right: Chefs, the industry surrounding cheffing and restaurants and all sort of other fun food stuffs.

I hate to call myself a “foodie”, as that designation is too hip for me.  Me?  I’m a dork who likes Kraft Mac n’ Cheese as much as she likes fois gras.

At best I am a girl with champagne tastes on a beer budget (who remembers where she came from and hasn’t lost her love of tuna noodle casserole).

At worst I’m one of those pretentious hipsters from Chicago who likes to pretend that they’re a food critic… I try to stifel that voice as much as possible.  I aim not to be negative in my life, nor overtly obnoxious and/or something I’m not.  What am I?  Just a girl who likes comics, Star Wars, wine and eating good food.

Here’s what I’ll be posting here:

• Pictures of food I think is amazing and that you should try.  (IE: Food porn.)
• Some recipes of my own that I think are pretty tasty.
• Perhaps some interviews with people of note in the foodie community.
• A funny story or two, I’m sure.
